about

A tragic hopeful tale

lyrics

Mean little man with the aging frown
Spending his days looking down
Cursing his fate with the peasants and the scroungers
Longing for the one that got away

How they used to go to town, burn that city down
Cheap booze, and loose women
The kids would hang around, till the money was all gone
Then they turned their backs and walked away

That was high school then, in the scrap book bin
Glory days, long since over
Never quite did find something to believe in
Caught waiting for life to begin

Said I should be someone, I could be on tv
If it wasn't for my bum knee and my drug addiction
I curse every dollar I make with my hands
It should've been me who got away

I heard he's changed, I heard he's gone all LA
Cut his hair, stopped eating bread
Powder for his nose and yoga in the mornin
Drinks whiskey seven instead

Forgot all about, the brick and the stone
The lyin and the stealin that we have to deal with
Forgot all about the ground that grew him
The reason he got away

Alone at night when I let my guard down
I have to say Ive been losin it
Never quite did find something to believe
Another reason to get out of bed

See I am someone, I dont like tv
Too old to be a hero and the drugs have stopped working
I need to find a way to be myself and pay the bills
This world aint too kind to the dreamers
Im goin out now, gonna bury this ghost
Im goin out now gonna make the most
Of every breath Im takin, gonna feeel every note
im goin out now gonna bury this ghost

about

Danny McGaw Lawrence, Kansas

I was a footballer, then I was a street musician, then I was a bar musician and now I’m in two Indi rock bands. I was a crazy kid and now I’m a crazy father. I have made 10 records in 14 years and kept a musical diary the whole time. These days I try to record most of my songs in my home studio.

I have started a blog to share these recordings and to raise funds for the next record.
